Getting to St Andrews:

By Plane

There are three major international airports that you can fly into:

Alternatively you can fly from inside the UK into Dundee (Approximately 40 km, Taxi will cost ~ £40). Transfer to St Andrews is approximately 1 hour from Edinburgh or 2 hours and 15 minutes from Glasgow. You will find a lot of flight companies (e.g. BA, FlyBe, Lufthansa) offering flights to above destinations. Nowadays Ryan Air or Easyjet make it pretty easy to get here. We however recommend not to use them if you have to take more than one hop.

By Car

Directions from Edinburgh: Take A90 over the Forth Road Bridge on to the M90. At junction 8 take the A91 towards St Andrews. Follow A91 to St Andrews.

Directions from Glasgow: From Glasgow take M8 towards Edinburgh, At Junction 2 turn onto M9 and follow signs for the Forth Road Bridge Take A90 over the Forth Road Bridge on to the M90. At junction 8 take the A91 towards St Andrews. Follow A91 to St Andrews.

By Train

St Andrews is not on the train line. The nearest station is Leuchars on main line from London, Edinburgh and Aberdeen (20-minutes away from St. Andrews). St Andrews may be reached by car, taxi or by bus from Leuchars. Bus: Approximately a 15-minute journey from the train station to St Andrews. 2 to 3 buses per hour between (9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and less frequently at other times) Taxi: Approximate cost is £ 15. You can find some information about traintimes here or here. A regular bus service provides lifts from the airport in Edinburgh to the nearby trainstation in Edinburgy-Haymarket. Car hire

There is an Enterprise Car Rental Place in Cupar, which is 15 minutes west of St Andrews. This option requires you to get to St Andrews first. Optionally you could rent a car at the Airport in Edinburgh.
